This book has such a special place in my heart. I cannot even begin to say how proud I am of it. I wrote the first draft ten years ago, when I was a struggling Hollywood assistant, wondering if I would ever find my place in any writing community. It came from the heart, truly, and it has been a great honor that this project is helping me carve out a space in the writing world.

Speaking of honor, I strongly believe that World War I is a story that will always need to be told. It’s important to remember the struggles and sacrifices of that generation, whose graves still cover the countryside of Europe. That this book will play a small part in that is the greatest honor of all.
