Today is the day.

Flight of the Hummingbird releases in hardback today, and I have to tell you, I couldn’t be more proud of any book I’ve written. For several reasons.

One reason is that this book took quite a toll. The writing and research took me to some dark places, but they were places I felt I needed to go. To both learn, and to pass on understanding. Yet as hard as it got, as many times as I wanted to give up, I didn’t. So, this book taught me perseverance, and that is always an important lesson for any writer.

A second reason is that the journey from draft to publication was considerably more difficult for this book. I mean, it’s difficult for any book, as any other writer will willingly tell you. But this one was a particular challenge as it passed from multiple publishers, looking for a home. Yet again, there were many times I wanted to call it quits, fearing so much that it was a story that was just too easy to misunderstand. And yet, I kept going. I couldn’t keep it locked away. I learned yet again how important it is to persevere.

A third reason is that with this book, I spoke my mind. I said what I needed to say. That is no easy feat for anyone. Especially a painfully shy introvert like myself. It was almost like this book and I, we grew stronger together. And I deeply cherish that experience.

For these reasons and many others, I truly hope you enjoy Flight of the Hummingbird. I do believe it is the most important thing I’ve had to say as a writer.

Happy reading, friends. Thanks always for all of your encouragement and support. It means the world.
